LIFE IN GOD'S NEW ORDER
Do you repeat the "Lord's Prayer" with its clause, "Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth"? Then you should be vitally interested in Jehovah God's long-promised new order. The apostle Peter, when nineteen hundred years farther away from the complete realization of that new system of things than we are today, showed his unswerving faith in its coming, saying: "There are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell."—Matthew 6:10; 2 Peter 3:13.
"Look! A king will reign for righteousness itself." (Isaiah 32:1) A complete end to all political corruption guaranteed. What a relief! This is but the beginning of earthly blessings under the rule of God's heavenly Son, Christ Jesus. This mild-tempered Ruler and his associate rulers promise to end all oppression, so that their inheriting the earth to rule over it will pave the way for meek ones of humankind to occupy it in tranquillity: "But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." (Psalm 37:11) Furthermore, with such glowing examples of right-doing in the new government, it will surprise no one to find a total absence of crime and delinquency.
In God's new order there will be freedom from want and fear.
Clean speech and true worship will be firmly established and prevail earth-wide for the first time. The prophet Micah sketches some idea of this for us, saying: "They will actually sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, and there will be no one making them tremble; for the very mouth of Jehovah of armies has spoken it. For all the peoples, for their part, will walk each one in the name of its god; but we, for our part, shall walk in the name of Jehovah our God to time indefinite, even forever." Yes, even freedom from war: "They will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. They will not lift up sword, nation against nation, neither will they learn war any more."—Micah 4:4, 5, 3.
Such unbroken peace can be a wonderful contributor to profitable works. In God's new system of things no building, planting nor any labor will be in vain. "They will certainly build houses and have occupancy; and they will certainly plant vineyards and eat their fruitage. They will not build and someone else have occupancy; they will not plant and someone else do the eating. For like the days of a tree will the days of my people be; and the work of their own hands my chosen ones will use to the full. They will not toil for nothing, nor will they bring to birth for disturbance," because they are the chosen ones of Jehovah.—Isaiah 65:21-23.
Total peace on earth will mean peace among all living things. Peace among men: "Let him [the righteous King] judge the afflicted ones of the people, let him save the sons of the poor one, and let him crush the defrauder. In his days the righteous one will sprout, and the abundance of peace until the moon is no more." (Psalm 72:4, 7) And, wonder of wonders, peace will destroy enmity among wild beasts and between them and man: "The wolf will actually reside for a while with the male lamb, and with the kid the leopard itself will lie down, and the calf and the maned young lion and the well-fed animal all together; and a mere little boy will be leader over them.
And the cow and the bear themselves will feed; together their young ones will lie down. And even the lion will eat straw just like the bull. They will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain."—Isaiah 11:6, 7, 9.
All persons living then will have accurate knowledge of Jehovah, the Creator. He will bless them with renewed minds and bodies that no longer suffer from the relentless inroads of degeneration inherited from Adam. He has promised: "No resident will say: 'I am sick.'" (Isalah 33:24) No more will death cut short lives filled with right
works. Death will be "brought to nothing." (1 Corinthians 15:26) What of those long dead? The King, Christ Jesus, who is the "resurrection and the life," easily springs the latch on the grave, releasing all dead ones who have been retained in the memory of God, indicated by the expression "memorial tombs," which he used as shown at John 5:28, 29:
"Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment." For Godfearing persons the sting of death will be gone forever! The grave no longer will claim them!
Parents and all interested in the security of the home and family will delight in the lofty moral standards of God's new order.
So high, in fact, are they that not the very best of this present world's living codes will prove good enough to continue in effect under the new system of things. The original purpose for the first Edenic pair, never carried out, will be restated to purehearted survivors of the end of this wicked system of things, namely, "Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth." (Genesis 1:28) Happily, the populace of the new earth will experience the exultation of the psalmist who recorded: "Happy you will be and it will be well with you. Your wife will be like a fruit-bearing vine in the innermost parts of your house. Your sons will be like slips of olive trees all around your table." (Psalm 128:2, 3) Their offspring will be reared in the "discipline and authoritative advice of Jehovah" and will maintain this righteous standard. (Ephesians 6:4) Then, no mockeries of marriage; no immorality, no divorce, nor any of the social ills now known.
All of such countless blessings of the new system of things will take place against the backdrop of a beautiful global park. God's footstool, the earth, will be glorified in rich verdure, laughing waters and many-colored flowers. "To you the very glory of Lebanon will come, the juniper tree, the ash
tree and the cypress at the same time, in order to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I shall glorify the very place of my feet." Look! Eden reborn and spread earth-wide! —Isalah 60:13; 66:1.
For all persons in search of life it is vitally important to remember that the new society described will rest on obedience to the psalmist's command: "Every breathing thing—let it praise Jah."
(Psalm 150:6) This requires first the life-giving knowledge of Jehovah that is even now available. Do not shrink before visions of straw-eating lions and lasting peace, thinking such visions too good to be true. It may be too good for the corrupt human society to deserve, but not too good to come from the hand of Jehovah God. "This means everlasting life," taking in and acting on this knowledge; life in the matchless new order promised by God. (John 17:3) How worthwhile, therefore, to reach out for it and gain the prize! How necessary to do so now!
