Origins: The Great Pyramid (1906–1923)
In the 19th century several writers argued that the Great Pyramid of Giza was built under divine guidance and that its measurements foretell God's plan. C. T. Russell took up this view in Thy Kingdom Come (1891), drawing on Piazzi Smyth and Joseph Seiss, and The Watch Tower recommended the detailed studies of the Scottish Bible Students John and Morton Edgar. In 1928 The Watch Tower under J. F. Rutherford rejected pyramid study as unscriptural ("The Altar in Egypt"), and the Society has not taught it since.
